Bachelor of Environments Alumni: Architecture

I chose the Bachelor of Environments because the course provides flexibility and wide range of knowledge. The University of Melbourne is also one of the best universities in the world. I decided to major in architecture because I’ve wanted to be an architect since high school.

My favourite subjects were the Architecture Design Studios – these subjects are essentially what architects do. I can really develop my skills by doing these subjects.

To me, studying at the University of Melbourne meant opening a lot of opportunities to see the world, for example doing an exchange/ study abroad program and working overseas.

My advice to new students is to enjoy your three years in the course – for me it felt very quick. And I think doing an exchange is a MUST, it’ll open more opportunities, not to mention meeting new friends and visiting wonderful places around the world. I did an exchange program at University of Stuttgart, Germany, for one summer semester. This experience really changed my life. I not only enjoyed the travelling, I also met new friends from all over the world and a friendly host family. I also enjoyed the classes as most of them were involved excursions. I got to visit those classical buildings I studied in art history and all the modern buildings as well.

I am looking forward to work as a graduate architect and use
my skills professionally.

The BEnvs helped prepare me for dealing with various issues from many fields.

Five words that sum me up are Ambitious, Perfectionist (detail), Hard-working, Travelling, Coffee-lover.

My personal motto is…“Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can – there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did.”

I chose to do graduate study in the Master of Architecture because it has been my goal since I chose to study BEnvs.

It’s different studying at graduate level – there are more challenges than in undergraduate study.

In my Masters I am looking forward to taking a travelling studio and exchange program.

What inspires you at Uni? Everything, from books, classmates and wonderful tutors and lecturers.
