Bachelor of Environments: Virtual Environments Headspace Project
I chose the Bachelor of Environments because our lives are intricately woven into the natural and built environment. And with that interest in mind, I feel like it is a novel approach to learning architecture.
I decided to major in architecture because architecture is the intersection of everything and anything in life. I believe it is the single entity that will allow me to share and express how I perceive the world.
My favourite subjects were Virtual Environments, Designing Environments and Urban Environments, Urban Design Studies, Visual Communication, Foundations of Architecture.
To me, studying at the University of Melbourne meant endless opportunities.
My advice to new students is try and enjoy the work as much as you can, because in the end of the day, there is nothing quite as pleasing.
And never think what you are learning now is irrelevant to your future hopes and dreams, be like a happy sponge and just try to absorb as much as you can, when you least expect it, it will eventually come in handy. If you are thinking of doing architecture, be prepared for at least 5 years of juggling work, sleep, lifetime friends, awesome tutors, drawing pens, balsa wood, cardboard, CAD, sketchbook, ideas, ideas, ideas, more ideas, and…lots of coffee.
The BEnvs helped prepare me to gain various invaluable insights to the extensively broad nature of architecture as a discipline. BEnvs also helped me make more informed decisions and be responsible for my design decisions across all spheres.
Four words that sum me up are passionate, determined, friendly, energetic.
My personal motto is The things you can’t see are the things worth looking at.
