Bachelor of Environments: Architecture

I chose the Bachelor of Environments because of the multidisciplinary opportunities it offered, enabling me to study my chosen major of architecture, while being able to simultaneously explore aspects of other related disciplines.

I decided to major in architecture because of the way it enables me to imagine and design a world that is yet to exist.

My favourite subjects were the architectural history subjects, Design Studio 4 (capstone) and Construction Methods. Each, in their own way, enabled me to explore my particular architectural interests and provided me with a broader perspective of the architectural discipline and its engagement with historical, pragmatic and creative realms.

To me, studying at the University of Melbourne meant gaining an enriching campus experience and being able to meet other students have share a similar passion and dedication to architecture and design.

NAT IS NOW WORKING IN THE INDUSTRY

After graduating from a Bachelor of Environments, I decided to take a year off uni to gain exposure to the professional world of how architects collaboratively engage with clients and deadlines, as well as responding to social and environmental issues. I believe that working in the industry has provided me with an enriching experience that a purely academic environment cannot offer.

What do you do? I am an Architectural Assistant at Turner + Associates Architects, in Surry Hills (Sydney).

How did you find your job? I did a three month work experience/internship at Turners at the end of my second year, over the summer break. I kept in contact with them during my final year, and was fortunate to be offered a full-time position when I graduated.
