Bachelor of Environments: Property

I chose the Bachelor of Environments because it was the quickest route to attaining my bachelors degree, and based on my previous qualifications (diploma in building and real estate management from Singapore); only one year was required.

I decided to major in property because I had always been fascinated with the workings of property and its characteristics as an investment.

My favourite subject was Cities: from Local to Global (Urban Planning). This subject offered new insight to factors to be considered when planning cities. Additionally, it also looked at how some cities developed innovative solutions to overcome their constraints, which was a real eye opener.

To me, studying at the University of Melbourne meant having a great overseas experience, which required me to be an independent learner and one who took initiative.

My advice to new students is: it’s probably hard to tell if you will end up in the profession that you’re studying, but enjoy your university days while they last! And to strive academically – focus is important!
